Riding Requirements & Experience

_
Do I need a motorcycle licence to join your tours?
Yes. A valid motorcycle licence from your home country is required to ride on our tours. Learner or provisional licences are not accepted.
Do I need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?
Yes. An IDP is mandatory in countries like India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and must be carried alongside your original licence.
How much riding experience do I need?
You should be a confident road rider. Some tours have long riding days, challenging terrain, or light off-road sections. We’ll help you pick the tour that matches your experience.
Can non-riders or pillions join the tour?
Yes, on selected tours! Pillion riders are welcome, but they must be comfortable riding as a passenger for extended periods. Please check the specific tour’s itinerary for pillion-friendly routes.

Tours & Itinerary

_
How long are the daily riding distances?
Daily distances vary by tour:
  • Himalayas: 120–200 km per day, depending on terrain and elevation.
  • Rajasthan: 180–250 km on open highways with desert stretches.
  • South India: 100–200 km on scenic countryside roads.
  • Sri Lanka: 80–150 km on winding coastal and hill roads.
  • Nepal: 100–180 km on mountainous and valley routes.
Expect adventurous rides with plenty of stops for photos, snacks, and sightseeing.
Who will guide my motorcycle trip?
Your tour will be led by experienced motorcycle tour leaders from Australia, supported by local guides and a dedicated support crew. Safety and adventure go hand-in-hand.
Can I bring my own motorcycle?
For most destinations, this is impractical due to import rules. We provide well-maintained adventure motorcycles suitable for the terrain.
What kind of motorcycles are used on tours?
We mainly use Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and similar adventure bikes, chosen for comfort, reliability, and terrain adaptability.
If you require a lower seat, pillion backrest, or prefer models like the Himalayan 411, Scram, or any other Royal Enfield, we can usually arrange it subject to availability.
Can minor modifications be made to the motorcycle?
Yes. Adjustments like seat height, handlebars, or luggage setup are possible, just let us know before the tour.

Accommodation & Meals

_
What type of accommodation can I expect?

Accommodations on our tours range from comfortable hotels to heritage properties, depending on the destination. We also stay in boutique lodges and eco-resorts, all carefully chosen to match the adventure spirit of each tour. In some remote areas, you may stay in safe guesthouses or homestays, ensuring a unique local experience without compromising on comfort.

Will I be able to wash my clothes?
Yes, most accommodations provide laundry services, and we plan rest stops for washing if needed.
Note: In the Himalayas and Nepal, facilities are limited or sometimes unavailable at hotels, so plan accordingly and bring enough clothing for those stretches.
I require a special diet. Will you cater for that?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or other dietary needs can usually be accommodated; just inform us before the tour.
Is alcohol allowed during the tour?
Yes, moderate consumption is permitted during evenings at accommodations, but drinking before or during rides is strictly prohibited.

Packing & Essentials

_
What should I pack for the tour?
Pack light, practical, and adventure-ready gear:
  • Helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, boots (riding gear is mandatory)
  • Casual clothes for evenings
  • Waterproof jacket and thermal layers (Himalayas)
  • Sun protection and sunglasses
  • Travel documents, IDP, and motorcycle licence
  • Minimal toiletries and personal medications

For each tour, we provide a detailed packing list tailored to local climate and terrain.

Will I be able to have international roaming?
Yes, in most destinations, international roaming works fine, and local SIM cards are widely available.
Note: In the Himalayas, once you land in Leh/Ladakh, mobile networks from outside the region typically do not work. However, you can purchase a local SIM card from Leh Market to stay connected during your stay.

Travel & Logistics

_
Which travel insurance should I choose?
You must have comprehensive travel insurance covering:
  • Riding a motorcycle with more than 250 cc capacity
  • Medical emergencies

Choose a policy that explicitly includes motorcycle touring.

Do you book flights?

We guide you but do not book flights:

  • International: Use Skyscanner
  • Domestic (India): Use MakeMyTrip
How much local currency will I need during the tour?

You’ll need cash for:

  • Alcohol, snacks, and personal shopping
  • Tips for local staff and guides

All your main meals are included in the tour price, so you don’t need extra cash for breakfasts, lunches, or dinners covered by the tour.

Suggested amount: We recommend carrying between AUD $300 – $500 for the duration of the tour to cover extras comfortably.

What happens after I arrive at the airport?

Our team will meet you and provide a transfer to the hotel. A welcome briefing will cover the itinerary, motorcycles, safety, and adventure tips on the first night of the tour.

Safety & Support

_
Are motorcycles insured, and what happens if there is damage?
Yes, all motorcycles are insured locally, but riders are responsible for any damage caused by accidents or negligence, payable on the ground.

We offer an optional Motorcycle Damage Shield (MDS). By paying a small fee in advance (amount varies by destination), the MDS covers motorcycle damage up to AUD $1,500. Anything over $1500 will be payable by the rider. You can sign-up for MDS when booking your tour.

Important notes for the Himalayas:

  • Motorcycles are insured for third-party liability only, not comprehensive coverage.
  • If you have the MDS and a situation occurs where the bike must be replaced, any cost over AUD $1,500 will need to be covered by the rider.
  • If you do not purchase the MDS, you will be fully responsible for all repair or replacement costs of the motorcycle in case of a write-off
What if something goes wrong during the tour?
