Tour Description

Embark on one of the most breathtaking motorcycle adventures in the world a 12-day journey through the legendary Upper Mustang, often called the Last Forbidden Kingdom of Nepal. Riding the powerful Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, you’ll traverse rugged mountain trails, ancient villages, and timeless Buddhist monasteries that have stood unchanged for centuries.

This tour blends adventure, culture, and spiritual discovery. From the vibrant chaos of Kathmandu to the serene walled city of Lo Manthang, each day unveils new landscapes, winding Himalayan passes, windswept valleys, and dramatic desert plateaus framed by the towering Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

This is more than a ride. It’s a journey back in time, through landscapes and cultures that few have witnessed. Ideal for seasoned riders seeking both challenge and meaning, this expedition captures the raw beauty, mystery, and spirit of the Himalayas.

Itinerary by Day

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu – Altitude: 1,400 meters | Distance: NIL

Your Himalayan journey begins in Nepal’s bustling capital, Kathmandu. After arrival and a warm airport welcome, settle into your hotel and unwind from your travels. Later, explore the lively district of Thamel filled with vibrant markets, prayer flags, and Himalayan charm. The day ends with a detailed trip briefing and motorcycle handover.

Road Condition: No riding today.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Kathmandu (City Sightseeing) – Altitude: 1,400 meters | Distance: ~40 km

Start your cultural immersion with a guided city ride through Kathmandu’s UNESCO Heritage Sites. Visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, the Boudhanath Stupa — one of the world’s largest, and the ancient Patan Durbar Square. Each stop offers a glimpse into Nepal’s deep spiritual roots and traditional architecture.

Road Condition: Urban roads with occasional traffic congestion; generally paved.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Chitwan – Altitude: 1,362 meters | Distance: ~175 km

Ride through scenic highways following the Trishuli River, passing terraced farmlands and small hill towns. As you descend to the plains, the subtropical air greets you in Chitwan, home to Nepal’s oldest national park. Enjoy a jungle safari and end your day with an energetic Tharu cultural performance under the stars.

Road Condition: Mostly paved highways, winding with moderate traffic.

Day 4: Chitwan to Pokhara – Altitude: 822 meters (approx.) | Distance: ~150 km

Today’s ride winds along forested roads and river valleys toward the serene city of Pokhara. Stop for tea at Mugling, and optionally take the Manakamana Temple cable car for panoramic views. In Pokhara, relax by Phewa Lake and soak in views of the Annapurna range reflecting on the water at sunset.

Road Condition: Paved roads with some busy highway sections.

Day 5: Pokhara to Kalopani – Altitude: ~2,530 meters | Distance: ~135 km

Begin your ascent into the Himalayas, following the Kali Gandaki River through Beni and Tatopani, whose name means ‘hot water’. The world’s deepest gorge cuts between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri here, offering jaw-dropping views. As the air cools, arrive in Kalopani surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped peaks.

Road Condition: Mixed paved and semi-off-road mountain roads with occasional gravel.

Day 6: Kalopani to Chhusang – Altitude: ~3,000 meters | Distance: ~60 km

The real adventure begins as you enter the restricted Upper Mustang region. Ride through apple orchards in Marpha, visit the windswept town of Jomsom, and pass the ancient village of Kagbeni — the gateway to Mustang. The landscape turns arid and starkly beautiful as you reach Chhusang.

Road Condition: Rough gravel and dirt trails; occasional rocky sections with wind exposure.

Day 7: Chhusang to Lo Manthang – Altitude: ~3,840 meters | Distance: ~65 km

A thrilling off-road ride through Mustang’s moonscape terrain. The route passes through Samar and Syangboche, crossing high passes and canyons carved by wind and time. Arriving at Lo Manthang, the walled capital of Mustang, feels like stepping into a lost kingdom frozen in time.

Road Condition: Fully off-road; dry, dusty, and rugged terrain with steep ascents and descents.

Day 8: Lo Manthang Sightseeing – Altitude: ~3,840 meters | Distance: ~30–40 km

Spend the day exploring the timeless city of Lo Manthang. Visit its centuries-old monasteries, royal palace, and the remarkable Chhoser cave dwellings. Interact with locals and experience authentic Mustang culture — prayer wheels spinning in the wind and monks chanting in ancient gompas.

Road Condition: Light off-road local trails; manageable dirt paths suitable for short rides.

Day 9: Lo Manthang to Muktinath – Altitude: ~3,710 meters | Distance: ~85 km

Descend from the high desert toward Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site where Hindus and Buddhists come to worship. The contrast of arid cliffs and snow peaks makes for spectacular riding. Explore the temple complex with its eternal flame and 108 water spouts symbolizing purification.

Road Condition: Off-road terrain; rocky stretches with narrow mountain tracks and river crossings.

Day 10: Muktinath to Pokhara – Altitude: 822 meters (approx.) | Distance: ~170 km

An exhilarating descent from the mountains back to the lush valleys. Stop again at Tatopani for a relaxing soak in its hot springs before cruising through familiar villages. Reaching Pokhara feels like a celebration — comfortable lodges, great food, and the calm of the lakeside await.

Road Condition: Mixed surfaces; rocky trails early in the day, transitioning to smooth tarmac highways.

Day 11: Pokhara to Kathmandu – Altitude: 1,400 meters | Distance: ~200 km

Ride the scenic Prithvi Highway back to Kathmandu, tracing rivers and terraced fields. Stop for local tea or fresh fruit along the way and enjoy your final moments on the road. The day ends with a farewell dinner celebrating your journey through one of the world’s most extraordinary regions.

Road Condition: Fully paved mountain highway with moderate traffic and winding curves.

Day 12: Departure from Kathmandu – Altitude: 1,400 meters | Distance: NIL

Enjoy a relaxed morning and a final stroll through Kathmandu’s markets before your airport transfer. Reflect on your unforgettable adventure through Mustang — a journey that combines rugged riding, cultural depth, and the spirit of the Himalayas.
