Day 1: Arrival in Negombo – Welcome to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Welcome to Sri Lanka! After your arrival, settle into the charming coastal town of Negombo, known for its golden beaches, vibrant fish markets, and laid-back atmosphere. This day is all about rest and recovery from your journey. Today you will take your motorcycle for a short ride around town, explore the lively Negombo Beach Road, or visit the Dutch Fort and St. Mary’s Church. Enjoy your first taste of Sri Lankan hospitality as you prepare for the exciting adventure ahead.
Day 2: Kalpitiya – Sigiriya - Riding Distance 180 kms
Venture inland on your motorcycle, traversing scenic landscapes dotted with rice paddies and rural villages. Ascend the majestic Lion Rock fortress in Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and be rewarded with panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside.
Day 3: Sigiriya – Trincomalee - Riding Distance 100 kms
Embrace the scenic beauty of Sri Lanka’s diverse landscapes as you journey towards Trincomalee. Lush mountains and serene forests provide a captivating backdrop for your ride. Delve into Sri Lanka’s rich Buddhist heritage at the Dambulla Cave Temple, marveling at hundreds of ancient Buddha statues. Unwind on the pristine beaches of Trincomalee, a town steeped in history. Explore the imposing Fort Frederick, a testament to the island’s colonial past, or delve into the serenity of Hindu temples.
Day 4: Trincomalee – Polonnaruwa - Riding Distance 109 kms
Journey to Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital boasting a rich legacy. Explore the ruins of the royal palace, temples, and monasteries, remnants of a glorious bygone era. Instead of a safari, enjoy a local village experience, engaging in cultural activities and traditional Sri Lankan cuisine
Day 5: Polonnaruwa – Kalkudah - Riding Distance 80 kms
Arrive at the idyllic beach resort town of Kalkudah, a haven for relaxation and sun-drenched bliss. Surrender to the turquoise waters, indulge in exhilarating water sports, or simply unwind on the pristine beach.
Day 6: Kalkudah – Mahiyanganaya - Riding Distance 115 kms
Today’s ride provides a scenic escape through Sri Lanka’s rural landscapes and charming villages. Arrive in Mahiyanganaya, a town bordering Kaudulla National Park, renowned for its elephant population.
Day 7: Mahiyanganaya – Nuwara Eliya - Riding Distance 94 kms
Ride towards Nuwara Eliya, known as "Little England" for its colonial charm and lush tea plantations. Enjoy a scenic ride through rolling hills and picturesque landscapes. Visit a tea factory to learn about the islands renowned tea production.
Day 8: Nuwara Eliya – Rest Day
Relax and soak in the beauty of Nuwara Eliya. Stroll through Victoria Park, visit Lake Gregory, or enjoy a leisurely afternoon at a local cafe. Optional activities include a visit to a strawberry farm or a boat ride on the lake.
Day 9: Nuwara Eliya – Ella - Riding Distance 62 kms
Prepare to be captivated by Sri Lanka’s breathtaking scenery as you ride towards Ella, a hill station renowned for its natural beauty. Majestic mountains, cascading waterfalls, and emerald tea plantations line your route. Take a refreshing break at the Ravana Ella waterfall, a picturesque cascade perfect for a swim or a photo opportunity. Upon arrival in Ella, delve into a plethora of activities, including hiking, biking, or exploring the verdant tea plantations.
Day 10: Ella – Tissamaharama - Riding Distance 90 kms
Traverse the southern hills of Sri Lanka, offering breathtaking panoramas, on your ride to Tissamaharama. In the afternoon, embark on an unforgettable safari at Yala National Park, renowned for its leopards, elephants, and diverse wildlife.
Day 11: Tissamaharama – Mirissa - Riding Distance 120 kms
Your journey takes you closer to the southern coast today. Tissamaharama boasts ancient ruins like the Tissamaharama dagoba, a historical monument, and the Kataragama temple complex, a significant pilgrimage site. As you approach Mirissa, the sights and sounds of the beach come alive.
Day 12: Mirissa – Rest & Relaxation (Optional Whale Watching)
Mirissa is a haven for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts. Relax on the pristine shores, indulge in water sports like surfing or diving, or simply soak up the sun. Mirissa is a hotspot for whale watching, particularly during the migration season (November to April). Embark on a boat tour for a chance to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
Day 13: Mirissa – Deniyaya - Riding Distance 70 kms
Trade the coastal plains for the verdant hills as you head towards Deniyaya. This charming village nestled in the foothills offers a welcome change of scenery. Deniyaya is a hub for eco-tourism activities like trekking, bird watching, and exploring hidden waterfalls.
Day 14: Deniyaya – Kitulgala - Riding Distance 196 kms
The ride to Kitulgala takes you through scenic landscapes, offering glimpses of cascading waterfalls and lush greenery. Kitulgala is an adventure hub renowned for white-water rafting experiences on the Kelani River. Thrill-seekers can opt for other activities like kayaking or canyoning.
Day 15: Kitulgala – Negombo (Via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage) Riding Distance 90 kms
On your final leg back to Negombo, stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage for an unforgettable experience witnessing rescued elephants up close. Reflect on the unforgettable experiences and breathtaking sights you encountered throughout your journey. Enjoy a celebratory dinner in Negombo before your departure, reminiscing about the vibrant culture, diverse landscapes, and the thrill of exploring Sri Lanka on two wheels.
Day 16: Departure
After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the island paradise. Reflect on the unforgettable memories, friendships, and breathtaking landscapes experienced over the past two weeks. Depending on your flight time, you may have the chance for a short stroll along the beach or some last-minute souvenir shopping before your transfer to the airport.
