Within an hour, Prem gave me a call to introduce himself and the company, and I booked the trip almost a year in advance. From the moment I booked until I arrived in India, Prem was absolutely amazing. His wealth of knowledge, clear communication, and helpful advice made the whole preparation process easy, and I felt completely comfortable before the tour even began. Once the tour started, everything was taken care of. Nothing was ever too much trouble, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the incredible experience.The group of riders was fantastic, and we shared plenty of laughs and made some great memories along the way. A special mention goes to Bee, our sweep rider, and the backup vehicle crew. Their support throughout the journey was outstanding. We thought we were but had no idea what an adventure was in front of us. Every day was adrenaline packed & brilliant. Breathtaking landscapes, thrilling rides thru diverse terrains & altitudes, the history & culture of places we visited was a life time experience that will stay with us forever. The team: Prem we must say from our first email enquiry to you @ Beyond Borders, to the last day of our Tour, your help & itinerary were just spot on!! Not only did our support team of Becky, Jock, Bishal & Tashi make sure our bikes were safe & functioning correctly every day, all their other spare minutes were spent in looking after us! Namely making sure we had no concerns, we had waters & chocolates at every stop & they was so helpful & kind to us that we cannot thank them enough. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 bikes were a major new experience for us, and an extra challenge being two up. Once Mark found "the new position" for the foot brake we got on very well. He is patient, walks you through the pre tour process, keeps you on track to achieve these steps that become so important when the trip starts. We had 16 bikes on our tour, 14 clients. The support trucks had 4. Our bags were transported from hotel door to hotel door. The hotels ranged from very good to marginal, as did the food choices and hot water. But, an adventure was promised and it was delivered in spades. To ride in such remote places and to experience bucket list events, riding where there are no roads, where no electricity existed two years earlier, hotels are pioneering, the season is 100 days a year and you still need the weather gods on your side, they were. The RE Himalayan 450 was the perfect bike. My R1250GS or my Goldwing bagger could not have done this ride, well they could have but I would have struggled big time. We did Umling La, riding to 19,024 feet and being there, an indescribable experience. An optional river crossing on the way back and open plain riding and then a non optional river crossing made that day unforgettable, ever. Our group had a mix of riding experience, we all found our place, the banter was on par with my football days. When the last day arrived, it came too quickly and sadly we all went out separate ways, back to our normal lives. I joined the Himalayan motorcycle tour with Beyond Borders looking for a true adventure with a good mate I regularly ride with in Sydney. Having completed many tours around Australia on my BMW GS bikes, as well as rides through the Dolomites and the Pyrenees in Europe, I had high expectations. The Himalayas had always been on my bucket list, and they exceeded every one of them. The scenery was simply breathtaking, and the roads were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced—almost otherworldly, reminding me of what I imagine Mars might look like. Reaching the world’s highest motorable pass at 19,024 feet was an unforgettable highlight. The altitude certainly tested us, but the sense of achievement made it all worthwhile. Prem and the Beyond Borders team ran an exceptionally well-organised tour. Every detail was taken care of, from the accommodation and food to the support, cultural experiences, and the professionalism of the guides. Nothing was too much trouble, and the entire crew worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had an incredible experience. What started as 14 strangers became a group of great mates, sharing unforgettable memories, plenty of laughs, and genuine camaraderie over two weeks. Himalayan Adventure From the very beginning, the pre-tour information was excellent—detailed, clear, and comprehensive. The handout covered everything we needed to know, from what to pack to flying into Leh, including visa requirements and local arrival documentation. Whenever I had a question, Prem was incredibly helpful and always available by phone to provide support. The tour itself was very well organised, with daily briefings and great support from the entire team. Road Captain and Sweep Becky and Jock brought a wealth of experience, as did mechanic Bishal and driver/back-up rider Tashi. Their professionalism and knowledge gave everyone confidence throughout the trip. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450s were reliable and perfectly suited to the challenging conditions. Along the way, we had plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the spectacular scenery and fascinating historical sites. We experienced everything from warm sunshine to freezing temperatures, including an unforgettable day riding through snow on one of the high mountain passes. What really made the tour special, though, was the camaraderie. The group of fellow riders were fantastic people, and I came away with some great new friends. I have just returned from a Western Ghats tour of Southern India with Prem, and the lads from Beyond Borders Moto Tours. Having ridden India before this tour ticked lots of different boxes for me. I wanted to experience the food of Kerala region and we had great variety and flavours. Eaten in restaurants with the locals, off banana leaves, the food was delicious. None of us get sick from the cuisine. The roads were fun and varied, from madcap town traffic to winding mountain roads through tea and coffee plantations. Beautiful mountain vistas with cool air to jungles with monkeys and elehant. Then down to the Indian Ocean at South Goa for quiet beaches and great food. Temples, both Buddhist and Hindu and the magnificent Maharaja palace in Mysore, were places of great beauty and culture. This trip covered it all. Did I mention that in most places we were the only Australian tourists. We saw India as the locals did. Thanks guys for a top trip, recommend 😀
